El Cajon, CA – David Engler, 68, of El Cajon, tragically passed away on the morning of Friday, September 19, 2025, following a head-on collision with another bicyclist on the popular Lake Murray bike path in La Mesa.
The incident occurred near Kiowa Drive and Sunset Park in the early morning hours. According to the San Diego Police Department, Engler and another cyclist were riding in opposite directions when they collided. Authorities confirmed that Engler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
