Emil LaSida CWRU Cause of Death – It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Emil LaSida, a fourth-year student at Case Western Reserve University, who died unexpectedly in 2025. He was 22 years old.
A gifted swimmer and beloved member of the university community, Emil was known for his unwavering dedication, sharp intellect, and generous spirit. Both in the pool and beyond, he carried himself with quiet determination and a deep sense of purpose. His teammates and coaches recall his tireless work ethic, his humility in success, and his encouragement of others—always lifting those around him to be their best.
Emil was not only a driven student and athlete, but also a true friend—exceptionally helpful, thoughtful, and kind. Whether offering a late-night study session or a listening ear, Emil made time for others and made a lasting impact on many.
His loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him—family, friends, classmates, teammates, and mentors. As we grieve, we also celebrate the life of a young man who inspired through action and compassion, and who will be deeply missed.
