According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Winston was the driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala that was struck head-on by a 2020 Toyota Corolla traveling the wrong way in the northbound inside lane of I-95. The devastating impact claimed the lives of Winston, the 34-year-old Cocoa woman driving the wrong way, and a 46-year-old Holly Hill woman, who was a passenger in Winston’s vehicle. Authorities confirmed that none of the three individuals in the initial crash were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The violent crash set off a chain reaction involving six additional vehicles. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, and northbound lanes were closed for several hours to allow for rescue operations and a thorough investigation. Multiple others were injured in the extended crash, but Winston and two others were pronounced deceased at the scene.
