Tyler, Texas — Tyler police are actively investigating a possible terrorist threat near the UT Health East Texas Olympic Center on Beckham Avenue, following an incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Tyler Police Department, officers responded to the area and are continuing to investigate the situation. Authorities are closely monitoring the area to ensure public safety, though specific details about the nature of the threat have not yet been released.
Allison Pollan, a spokesperson for UT Health East Texas, confirmed that the active shooter alarm at the facility was triggered, prompting immediate internal investigations.
“We are currently looking into the cause of the alarm and working with law enforcement to ensure everyone’s safety,” Pollan said.
As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries. Police have not issued a shelter-in-place order, but are urging residents to stay clear of the area while the investigation continues.
