Indianapolis, IN — The University of Indianapolis community is mourning the tragic loss of one of its students, Layton Moore, who was found deceased Wednesday evening at University Lofts.
In an official statement released by University President Tanuja Singh, the university confirmed that Moore, a college-aged male and student at the university, died under what authorities described as “not-natural circumstances.” The University of Indianapolis Police Department (UIPD) responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m., where they discovered Moore’s body inside an apartment.
UIPD is conducting a joint investigation with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). At this time, authorities have confirmed that there is **no active threat** to the campus community.
“We are heartbroken by this loss,” President Singh said in her statement. “We are working closely with the authorities during their investigation and are focused on supporting the student’s family, friends, and our entire campus community during this difficult time.”
Counseling and support services have been made available to students, faculty, and staff.
Further details regarding the cause of death and memorial arrangements have not yet been released, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
