Seattle, WA – August 17, 2025 (4:30 PM PT) — A man was shot multiple times in the torso this afternoon at Golden Gardens Park in Ballard, prompting a massive police and medic response to the popular recreational area.
Witnesses report hearing multiple gunshots just before 4 PM, followed by the swift arrival of over ten Seattle Police Department vehicles, along with medics and fire units. Officers quickly located and detained the suspected shooter at gunpoint near the scene.
“I was walking my dog when it all happened,” one witness told us. “I heard the shots, then suddenly the whole place was crawling with cops. The area’s completely locked down—total chaos.”
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition after sustaining several gunshot wounds to the torso. Their current condition is unknown.
Police have not yet released details on what led to the shooting, but early reports suggest it may have involved an altercation between individuals near the park’s main trail. The suspect is reportedly in custody and being questioned.
