Lamont Wiley, a homeless father of two, has tragically taken his own life after facing public humiliation on social media by the mother of his children, according to sources. The devastating incident has left many in the community heartbroken and has sparked urgent conversations about mental health, homelessness, and the treatment of Black fathers.
The night before his death, Lamont was caring for his children. With nowhere else to go after a friend was unable to host them—and the children’s mother did not return—Lamont had no choice but to sleep outside with his son and daughter. His young son reportedly suffered multiple mosquito bites during the night.
Already struggling with depression and the weight of his circumstances, Lamont was further pushed into despair after being labeled a “bad father” in a series of harsh Facebook posts. The online shaming became too much to bear.
In a final heartbreaking message, Lamont wrote:
“Sorry Makaila & Karson. Daddy loves y’all.”
