It is with deep sadness that we share the tragic loss of Lauren Semanchik, 33, of Pittstown, and Tyler Webb, 29, of Forked River, who were found deceased on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Their lives were senselessly taken in what authorities are investigating as a targeted double homicide.
The suspected shooter was identified as State Trooper Ricardo Santos, an ex-boyfriend of Semanchik and a former supervisor on the governor’s executive protection detail. According to those briefed on the investigation, Santos died by suicide in Johnson Park in Piscataway sometime on Saturday following the killings.
Lauren was a beloved daughter, friend, and member of the Pittstown community. Known for her warm spirit and compassionate heart, she brought light to everyone who knew her. Tyler, remembered for his vibrant personality and kind soul, was a resident of Forked River and cherished by friends and family alike.
Authorities responded to a 911 call shortly after noon on August 2, reporting an unconscious woman at a home on Upper Kingtown Road. Upon arrival, officers found Lauren and Tyler, both victims of gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the act was targeted.
Later that day, a New Jersey State Trooper believed to be connected to the case was found dead in a vehicle in Johnson Park, Piscataway, in what is being investigated separately.
The loss of Lauren and Tyler has left their loved ones and communities in deep mourning. As investigations continue, those who knew them are left to remember their laughter, love, and the lasting impact they made in such a short time.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the families at a later date.
May Lauren and Tyler rest in eternal peace.
