It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Santos Eduvijis Rivera, 32, of Akron, who died Tuesday evening in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
According to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, Mr. Rivera died from multiple blunt force injuries after jumping from the rooftop of The Exchange, a restaurant atop the 12-story East King Street tower connected to the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. His death has been ruled a suicide.
Mr. Rivera’s death prompted the temporary closure of The Exchange, which will remain closed until Friday. The incident has deeply affected staff, patrons, and the wider community.
Santos will be remembered by loved ones for his life beyond this tragic moment, and for the person he was before it. Further details about memorial services will be shared by the family at a later time.
