The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating what they call an apparent murder-suicide late Monday night in Harvey.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 11:30 p.m. in the 500 block of 3rd Street. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds lying in the street.
The man, identified by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office as Laymon Adams, 28, of Terrytown, was pronounced dead at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A gun was recovered near his body, according to JPSO
The woman, Bryisha Pennington, 39, of Harvey, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
