It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the tragic loss of NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who was fatally shot in the line of duty in New York City on July 29, 2025. Officer Islam, 36, was among the victims of a deadly shooting that shook the city and left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and community.
A devoted public servant and a proud member of the NYPD, Officer Islam served with honor, courage, and unwavering dedication. Known for his quiet strength and deep compassion, he was respected by fellow officers and deeply trusted by the community he worked tirelessly to protect.
Beyond the badge, Officer Islam was a loving husband and father. He leaves behind his beloved wife, who is expecting their third child, and two young sons who adored their father. His family was his greatest pride, and he often spoke of his dreams for their future.
The NYPD, along with the entire city, grieves this heartbreaking loss. Officer Islam’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the principles he upheld.
