Joseph Fulton Portis, 24, tragically lost his life in a car accident late Friday night, July 25, 2025, on Interstate 75 Southbound in Macon, Georgia.
According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, Portis was driving a 2003 Lexus LS430 when he lost control of the vehicle, swerved into another lane, and crashed. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. between Eisenhower Parkway and Rocky Creek Road. Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley pronounced him dead at the scene.
Originally from Macon, Joseph was a young man with a promising future and deep ties to his local community. His family, currently residing in California, was notified of his passing by Saturday afternoon.
Joseph will be remembered for his warm spirit, his loyalty to friends and loved ones, and the quiet strength with which he carried himself. His untimely passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Arrangements for memorial services will be announced by the family in the coming days.
