Juan Carlos Vega-Matute, 44, of Portland, Oregon, tragically passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Juan was born in 1981 and made Portland his home, where he built a life filled with meaningful relationships and hard work. Known for his kind heart, steady presence, and quiet strength, Juan was a beloved son, friend, and community member.
His life was cut short in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood, where he died as a result of a homicide. According to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner, Juan passed away due to stab wounds. The Portland Police Department responded to the incident at 3:19 p.m. and found Juan deceased at the scene. A suspect was located and detained shortly afterward.
Juan’s family and loved ones are now left to grieve the loss of a man taken far too soon. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his life will be honored in the days to come.
