Jerome suicide – 65-year-old man died by suicide outside Jerome Town Hall

A 65-year-old man took his own life outside Jerome Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement released by the Jerome Police Department.

The incident began shortly after 2:30 p.m. on July 3, when officers were called to the parking lot of Town Hall in response to a distressed individual.

According to police, the man had arrived seeking to speak with a judge regarding a civil matter. “The individual had come to Town Hall to speak with the judge regarding a civil matter. He appeared visibly upset after being informed that the judge was unable to address his concerns,” the department said.

Shortly after the conversation, the man reportedly took his own life in the parking lot. Authorities have not released his name pending notification of next of kin.

Emergency services responded quickly, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation. Town officials and police have expressed condolences to the man’s family and encouraged community members in distress to seek support.
