It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bruce Flannigan Jr., who tragically lost his life on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 35, after being swept away by swift waters at the mouth of the Pinnebog River in Port Crescent State Park, Hume Township, Michigan.
Bruce was known for his adventurous spirit, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. On the day of the incident, he was enjoying a peaceful afternoon walk with his girlfriend in shallow waters when unexpectedly strong currents—caused by earlier heavy rainfall—pulled them into a hidden drop-off. Though both fought to escape the fast-moving water, Bruce was unable to make it to safety.
Emergency responders from multiple departments searched tirelessly for more than two hours before Bruce was found and recovered by divers. Despite resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
Bruce’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength. He was a devoted son, a loving partner, a loyal friend, and a generous soul. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Bruce Flannigan Jr. will be remembered for the joy he brought into the world and the love he gave so freely. May he rest in peace.
