A 14-year-old boy has died in what Dearborn police are calling an apparent suicide at the Village Plaza property near Michigan Avenue and Outer Drive.
Officers responded to the scene and have assured the public there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding area. The case remains under active investigation.
In a statement, Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin described the situation as heartbreaking and asked the public to give the family space during this difficult time.
“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family. We are asking the community to please respect the privacy of the loved ones during this devastating time,” said Chief Shahin.
Authorities have not released the teen’s identity, and no further details have been provided out of respect for the family.
