Whitestone, Queens – June 9, 2025 — A body search is underway in Whitestone following reports of a person jumping from the Throgs Neck Bridge.
According to the NYPD, witnesses on the Queens side of the bridge alerted 911 around 6:30 p.m. after seeing someone go over the edge of the bridge into the East River. Emergency responders, including NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) divers, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Divers are currently conducting a wide-area search in the surrounding waters.
In a developing detail, multiple individuals at the scene reported seeing two people jump into the water, possibly following a police pursuit that began in the Bronx and ended in a crash near the bridge. Police have not confirmed these reports, and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Authorities continue their search efforts into the night. No identities have been released at this time, and it remains unclear whether any individuals have been recovered.
