A 21-year-old man has died after being shot in the neck Wednesday night in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, police said..
The shooting occurred around 9:20 p.m. in front of 431 West 17th Street, in the heart of Chelsea, a bustling neighborhood known for its art galleries, nightlife, and residential buildings. According to the New York City Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot at the location.
When officers arrived, they found the young man with a gunshot wound to the neck. Emergency medical services quickly transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in critical condition. Despite emergency efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
