It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shawn Patrick Hood, age 58, of Lenoir, North Carolina, who tragically lost his life in a mass shooting on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Catawba County.
Shawn was fatally injured during a senseless act of violence that took place shortly after midnight at a residence on Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View community. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire and discovered twelve victims, including Shawn. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Born in 1967, Shawn was known by family and friends as a kind, dependable, and generous man who valued community and connection. He brought warmth to those around him and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering support of his loved ones, and his deep ties to the Lenoir area.
He is survived by family members and many friends who are devastated by his loss and are asking for privacy as they grieve. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
