It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jahlen McDonald, who tragically lost his life in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025, in north Charlotte. He was 25 years old.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon just after midnight on Saturday in the 9300 block of Broken Pine Lane.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a person who had been shot. Jahlen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Born in 1999, Jahlen was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose warmth, sense of humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a vibrant spirit and a deep love for his family, community, and life itself. Whether through a smile, a helping hand, or a shared laugh, Jahlen had a way of making those around him feel seen and valued.
Jahlen’s life was cut short far too soon, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. He will be remembered not for the tragedy that took him, but for the light he brought to the lives of so many.
He is survived by his family and loved ones, who are mourning this unimaginable loss and ask for privacy and prayers during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be announced in the coming days.
May he rest in peace.
