It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan Ha, a beloved 12-year-old boy and seventh-grade student at Roslyn Middle School, who tragically lost his life on Monday, May 19, 2025, following a vehicular accident in Flower Hill, New York.
Nathan was struck by a vehicle while crossing Middle Neck Road near Northern Boulevard at approximately 6:38 p.m. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel and the efforts of hospital staff, Nathan was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital.
Nathan was a bright and curious student, known for his kindness, humor, and the quiet strength he brought into every classroom he entered. His teachers and classmates remember him as someone who loved learning, shared a genuine smile with everyone he met, and had a deep love for science, reading, and spending time with his friends.
Superintendent Allison Brown of the Roslyn Union Free School District shared, “This is a devastating loss for the child’s family, friends, and for all of us in the Roslyn community. Our hearts go out to the family during this most difficult time.” Crisis counselors and school staff are being made available to support students and families as the community mourns.
Nathan’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the love, laughter, and joy he brought into the lives of others.
Nathan is survived by his loving family, including his parents, siblings, extended relatives, and countless friends and classmates who will forever cherish his memory.
Funeral and memorial service details will be shared by the family at a later time.
May his light continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
