A chaotic scene unfolded at Menlo Park Mall on Saturday evening as a massive brawl involving an estimated 300 teenagers broke out on the second floor, rapidly spreading throughout the entire mall.
Witnesses described a terrifying atmosphere as groups of out-of-control teens clashed, prompting panicked patrons and store employees to lock themselves inside businesses for safety. The incident began shortly after 7:00 p.m., when an initial call to police falsely reported that shots had been fired inside the mall. Law enforcement later confirmed that no shots were fired.
Approximately 2,000 juveniles were reportedly at the mall for an organized event when the disturbance began. The situation escalated quickly, with fights erupting and chaos spilling into common areas. Numerous police departments from across Middlesex County rushed to the scene to assist in restoring order.
As of 9:00 p.m., authorities reported that the group of teenagers had moved across the street to the Target store. Officers are now focused on securing the area and dispersing the crowd peacefully. There have been no confirmed injuries or arrests as of this report.
Edison Police have urged the public to avoid the area while the situation remains active. More updates will follow as details emerge.
