A young Rockford man, Ethan Austin, 19, has tragically died following a shooting early Friday morning, according to the Rockford Police Department.
Authorities said that around 12:20 a.m., Ethan arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred during a fight in the parking lot of Broadway Food & Liquor, located at 2710 Broadway. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified at this time. Police say the investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Ethan’s sudden passing has left his family, friends, and the community in mourning. He will be remembered as a young man with a promising future, gone far too soon.
