The Princeton University community is mourning the loss of Lauren Blackburn ’26, whose body was discovered Friday morning at Lake Carnegie, days after she was reported missing. The news was shared with the campus by the Dean of Undergraduate Students in an email Friday afternoon.
Lauren, a member of the Class of 2026, was last seen on Saturday near Firestone Library. Originally from Indiana, he was known for her sharp intellect, quiet strength, and deep compassion for others. A dedicated student and a thoughtful friend, Lauren’s presence touched many across campus.
Search efforts had been ongoing throughout the week after he was reported missing on Tuesday. Authorities have not yet released a cause of death.
“Our hearts are with Lauren’s family and friends,” the University wrote in its message to students. “This is a heartbreaking loss for our community.”
Support services have been made available to students, faculty, and staff during this difficult time. Plans for a campus memorial will be announced in the coming days.
Lauren is survived by her parents, family, and a wide circle of friends who will remember her for her warmth, curiosity, and kind spirit.
May he rest in peace.
