A community is mourning the loss of a young life after a fatal shooting took place in Harrisburg on Monday evening.

Authorities have identified the victim as Omari Wilson Jr., 26, of Harrisburg, who died from gunshot wounds sustained during a shooting near the intersection of North 4th and Muench streets. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. and has since been ruled a homicide by Dauphin County officials.

Harrisburg Police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Wilson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The scene was heavily secured with police and emergency vehicles, and more than half a dozen evidence markers were visible on the ground, signaling an active investigation. Police have not yet announced any arrests or named suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
