A community is mourning the loss of a young life after a fatal shooting took place in Harrisburg on Monday evening.
Authorities have identified the victim as Omari Wilson Jr., 26, of Harrisburg, who died from gunshot wounds sustained during a shooting near the intersection of North 4th and Muench streets. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. and has since been ruled a homicide by Dauphin County officials.
Harrisburg Police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Wilson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The scene was heavily secured with police and emergency vehicles, and more than half a dozen evidence markers were visible on the ground, signaling an active investigation. Police have not yet announced any arrests or named suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Omari Wilson Jr. was a son, a friend, and a part of the Harrisburg community. Those who knew him remember a kind-hearted young man with a bright spirit and a deep love for his family. His sudden and tragic passing has left a void in the lives of many.
