Columbia, Mo. — A shooting occurred near the University of Missouri (Mizzou) campus late Saturday night during a student-organized event. An MU Alert was sent out to warn students and staff to avoid the area.
The event was connected to “Boots-on-the-Ground,” and students from multiple schools, including Lincoln University, were in attendance. What began as a night of gathering and celebration ended in panic when shots were fired.
Several students were injured during the incident. Police responded quickly and are currently investigating. No arrests have been made at this time.
The party was shut down after the shooting, and authorities are asking for help from anyone who may have witnessed the event.
