It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Kyren Lacy, former LSU wide receiver, who was found deceased in his home on Sunday morning. He was just 24 years old.
Born in 2000, Kyren grew up with a passion for football and a drive that carried him to the highest levels of collegiate athletics. A native of Louisiana, Lacy first made his mark at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before transferring to LSU, where he showcased his talent, work ethic, and resilience on and off the field.
Known for his towering presence, strong hands, and sharp route running, Kyren played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ receiving corps. His dedication to the game and his teammates was evident every time he stepped on the field. Coaches and fans alike remember him not just for his athleticism, but for his infectious energy and relentless determination.
Following his college career, Lacy was working to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft, holding onto the dream of playing at the professional level. His journey, however, had become clouded in recent months by serious legal troubles. In December 2024, he was charged with negligent homicide in connection with a tragic hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 78-year-old man. The incident left a mark on the community and on Lacy’s life as he faced the consequences and complexities of the situation.
While his final chapter was fraught with turmoil, those who knew Kyren personally remember a young man full of potential — someone who loved football, his family, and the chance to inspire others. His story is a somber reminder of life’s fragility and the weight of the choices we make.
Kyren Lacy is survived by his family, friends, teammates, and coaches who stood by him throughout his career. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
