It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Jahara Tunkara, age 22, of Columbus, Ohio. Jahara passed away early Wednesday morning, April 2, 2025, following a fatal collision on Interstate 71 North, near the Interstate 670 interchange.
Jahara was a bright and vibrant young man with a promising future. Known for his positive attitude, generosity, and love for life, Jahara was loved by his family and friends, and his loss is felt deeply by all who knew him. He was an individual who always brought light into every room he entered, and his kind heart and laughter will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The tragic accident occurred around 1:40 a.m. when a Nissan Rogue, traveling north on I-71, stopped unexpectedly in the middle of the highway. As the vehicle obstructed traffic, an International semi-trailer truck approached and struck the rear of the SUV. Jahara, who was driving the Nissan Rogue, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 2:23 a.m.
Jahara’s family takes comfort in the love and support extended to them by friends, neighbors, and the community during this incredibly difficult time. Although his life was cut short, Jahara’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A private memorial service will be held to honor his life and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. The family kindly asks for privacy as they navigate this painful loss.
Jahara Tunkara’s passing leaves a tremendous void, but his spirit will remain with those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, and may his family find strength in the memories they shared with him.
