It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we report the untimely passing of Avery Lee Winton, a beloved 17-year-old from Laurel, Montana. Avery died in a tragic car accident on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 12:01 a.m. on Interstate 90 near Laurel. He was pronounced dead at the scene following a rollover crash.
Avery was known for his kind, adventurous spirit, his infectious smile, and his strong bond with his family and friends. He was a vibrant young man with a love for life, always eager to help others and bring joy to those around him. His family and friends remember him as someone who could always make them laugh, someone who was loyal, and someone who had a natural ability to connect with everyone he met.
On the night of the accident, Avery was driving his Ford Focus east on I-90 when, tragically, he lost control of the vehicle near mile marker 432.7. The car veered off the road, struck a delineator post, and then flipped multiple times after re-entering the roadway. Avery was ejected from the vehicle, as he was not wearing a seatbelt. The official cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled accidental. Montana Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, with alcohol and drugs suspected as contributing factors.
Avery’s family is devastated by his loss and asks for privacy as they grieve. They take comfort in the love and memories Avery shared with them and the community. He is survived by his parents, siblings, extended family, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his life was tragically cut short, Avery’s legacy will continue to live on through the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family and friends will always remember the joy he brought into their lives and the love he gave so freely.
