It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Dawson Hogan, 21, of Salina, Kansas. Dawson tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 70 during a dust storm on Friday, March 14, 2025, while traveling home for spring break.
Dawson was a sophomore at Fort Hays Tech Northwest in Goodland, where he was studying electrical technology. Known for his vibrant energy and hardworking nature, Dawson was a dedicated member of the Men’s Wrestling team, an active participant in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and involved in many student life events. His passion for academics was equally evident, as he was recently nominated for the National Technical Honor Society and was on track to graduate this semester with plans to earn his Journeyman license and begin his career in the electrical field.
“Dawson was a vibrant presence on campus,” said Ben Schears, President of Fort Hays Tech Northwest. “He excelled both academically and athletically. He was dedicated to his education and to his community, and his loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew him.”
Dawson’s spirit, determination, and enthusiasm will be sorely missed by his family, friends, teammates, and classmates. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dawson is survived by his parents, siblings, and extended family, all of whom mourn his loss and remember him fondly for his joyful nature and bright future.
A memorial service to honor Dawson’s life will be announced at a later date. In this time of sorrow, his family requests privacy as they grieve this heartbreaking loss.
Rest in peace, Dawson. You were taken too soon, but your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew you. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
