NJ transit suicide – Person died by suicide at Elizabeth Station, NJ Transit

Rail service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line has resumed in both directions following a fatal incident involving a trespasser at Elizabeth Station, NJ Transit confirmed.

At approximately 5:31 p.m. on March 5, North Jersey Coast Line train 3363, which had departed New York Penn Station at 5:01 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Bay Head at 7:07 p.m., struck and fatally injured a trespasser at Elizabeth Station, according to NJ Transit spokesperson Kyalo Mulumba.

There were no reported injuries to the approximately 1,100 passengers or crew members aboard the train, Mulumba stated.

In the aftermath of the incident, Northeast Corridor service was temporarily suspended between Trenton and Newark, while North Jersey Coast Line service was halted between Newark and Long Branch. NJ Transit has since restored full service on both lines.
