Amber Royston, 38, of Columbus, has sadly passed away. AmberĀ died early Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run incident on I-70 West near Brice Road. The incident, which occurred around 3:01 a.m., left the community in shock and sorrow.
According to Columbus police, Royston was walking in the moving lanes of westbound I-70 between Brice Road and I-270 when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver involved in the first collision continued on without stopping. Sadly, as Royston lay on the road, she was struck again by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle immediately called authorities, but despite efforts by emergency responders, Royston was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police have launched an investigation into the hit-and-run and are seeking any information that could lead to the identification of the vehicle that fled the scene. Royston’s family is grieving the loss of a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, and they are seeking justice for her untimely death.
