It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Jack Peacock, age 85, of Cedar Rapids, who died on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Lake MacBride State Park.
Jack was discovered by a passerby on the walking trail near the main boat ramp, where a concerned individual noticed broken ice and a pair of gloves. First responders swiftly arrived on the scene and were able to retrieve Jack from the water. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved. The exact duration Jack was underwater remains unknown, but his passing has left a profound sorrow among those who knew and loved him.
Jack was a devoted family member and friend, known for his warm heart, quick wit, and unwavering kindness. He had a deep love for nature, often spending his time outdoors and enjoying the beauty of Iowa’s parks. His presence in the community and among his loved ones will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his family and many friends who will forever cherish the memories of the time spent with him. Jack’s legacy of compassion and joy for life will continue to inspire those who knew him.
