Kings Mills, OH – January 31, 2025 – Kings High School and Junior High School were placed on lockdown earlier today after reports of an alleged active threat turned out to be a hoax. The incident, believed to be a “swatting” prank, prompted a swift response from local law enforcement.
At approximately 10:00 AM, the schools received a call indicating a potential threat on campus, prompting administrators to initiate lockdown procedures as a precaution. Law enforcement agencies, including the Kings Mills Police Department and surrounding authorities, quickly arrived on the scene and conducted a thorough search of the buildings.
After a detailed investigation, officials confirmed that the threat was false and determined the incident to be a case of swatting – a malicious hoax designed to trigger a large-scale emergency response. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and students and staff remained safe throughout the ordeal.
The lockdown was officially lifted around noon, and students were returned to normal activities. The district reassured parents that student safety is always a top priority, and expressed gratitude for the swift and effective response from local law enforcement.
