The pizzeria, which began as a tavern founded by her grandfather, John Denino, in 1937, is now an iconic part of the borough’s rich culinary history. Originally a confectionery and pool hall located at 524 Richmond Avenue (formerly Hooker Place), the restaurant evolved into a beloved pizzeria in 1951 under the leadership of Carlo Denino, Carla’s father.
For decades, Carla worked alongside her family to uphold the tradition and quality that Denino’s is known for, earning the admiration and loyalty of generations of customers. Her dedication to her family’s legacy was evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the food to the service, and she was an integral part of its success.
