Littleton, MA – The southbound lane of I-495 in Littleton remains closed after a multi-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday afternoon, causing significant traffic delays. Emergency crews, including firefighters, police, and EMS, are on the scene, working to clear the area and address the situation.
The Massachusetts State Police reported that the crash took place just after 4:30 p.m. near the junction of I-495 and Route 2. Authorities said that a vehicle crossed into the opposite lanes of traffic, colliding with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.
However, the driver of the vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
As of now, the southbound lanes remain shut down, leading to significant backups and delays in the area. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes if possible.
