Massachusetts active shooter: Police Responding to Active Shooter Report at Norwell VNA

Norwell, MA – Authorities are currently responding to a reported active shooter situation at the Norwell Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) in Norwell, Massachusetts. Local law enforcement and emergency services have rushed to the scene following a distress call early this afternoon.

In a news release issued just after 3 p.m., Norwell police stated that they first arrived on the scene at 1:30 p.m. in response to a report of a potential active shooter on Longwater Drive. According to the reporting party, a message indicating that there was an active shooter within the building was being broadcast over the intercom system.

Police were informed by staff that there were no noises or other indications of an active shooter inside or outside the facility. When police arrived, they investigated the building but found nothing suspicious.

Both of the active shooter reports were unfounded, and there is no threat at this time, police said. Investigation is ongoing.
