LUBBOCK, TX — Nathaniel “Nate” Reed, a Texas Tech University student and aspiring musician, tragically took his own life after enduring relentless cyberbullying. The student had been using the university’s Snapchat story to promote his music, but his posts quickly became targets of ridicule. Fellow students recorded and mocked him on campus, screenshotting his posts and sharing them to the platform to slander him.

The online harassment, which escalated over time, led to emotional distress for Reed, who was simply trying to connect with peers and share his passion for music. Despite his efforts to remain resilient, the constant bullying took a toll, and he ultimately succumbed to the overwhelming pressure.

Nate’s death highlights the serious consequences of cyberbullying and the need for greater awareness and action to prevent such tragic outcomes. Texas Tech University has expressed condolences to Reed’s family and has urged the campus community to come together to support students struggling with mental health.
