A 71-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a house fire early Tuesday morning in Birmingham. The victim, identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Juanita Williams Pickens, was found at her home in the 3500 block of Boise Avenue SW.
The fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts to save her, Pickens was severely injured and later transported to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
